A week ago I attended the Firefly Handmade Gypsy Market in Boulder. This outdoor market featured local handmade and recycled crafts and vintage goods. 80 artisans sold their wares from booths in an open-sided building with vintage trailers and trucks rounding out the "gypsy" booths. I enjoyed the market but it was the trailers that made my heart race. Did you know? Trailers are hip adult versions of a playhouse!
This trailer belongs to Jaala, an artist who recycles pieces of vintage jewelry into bright, fun necklaces and bracelets that bring a smile to your face. You want to touch each piece and inspect the parts on charm bracelets, flower necklaces and other pretty baubles. Her trailer is just as detailed with vintage colors and charm as her jewels.
With its pint-sized kitchen and cozy eating nook the vintage vibe had me wanting to simultaneously bake cupcakes and take off on the open road. Imagine this parked in your back yard as an art studio. No wonder bloggers like Dottie Angel are buying old trailers and fixing them up. Crazy fun!
The Firefly market was so fun I went both days and found my own treasures to up-cycle. I'm looking forward to their Winter Holiday Market, held this year in Boulder's Museum of Contemporary Art. Click on the link for details. And a big thanks to Jaala for allowing me to photograph her wonderful trailer. I'm inspired (aren't you?) so I'll sign off here and go paint something pretty.
