We're celebrating Myrtle's birthday today! She was thrilled to discover her dear friends are holding a tea party held in her honor. Even though it is rainy today in Boulder, its always sunny in Myrtle's world.
It was supposed to be a surprise party but Lisel spilled the beans early so Myrtle could purchase a new outfit for the party. As her oldest friend, she knew dressing well was more important to Myrtle than being surprised. Myrtle went immediately to PinkGingerKitty to purchase this stylish pink plaid coat and hat for the occasion. (If you want one for your doll, there's a set in the shop.)
Rosie's shop, Roseberry Fine Confections, did the catering. Darjeeling tea plus strawberry, chocolate and vanilla sandwich cookies were the main attraction. Rosie also set up a photo booth so that everyone could pose for pictures to commemorate the occasion.
The Garden Party Girls were dressed to the nines, wearing their favorite hats, coats and cardigans. Myrtle was especially happy to see Elsie (front row, mauve hair) before she left for Dublin, Ireland and her new home.
The girls were thrilled with their party swag - pastel colored pencils and a coloring page of Myrtle and friends drawn by Elsie (see image below). Download your own free copy right here: Download BirthdayGirlColoringPage
About The Dolls:
A year ago I made my first Garden Party Girl, Myrtle, and she led me into a world of vintage loveliness, handmade dolls, and fun fashions. Since Myrtle I've made 30+ Garden Party Girl dolls and sold the majority of them. I think of them all as neighbors and enjoy intertwining their lives in the stories I write for each doll.
Every doll I make is handmade and one of a kind. They display a happy attitude through the mix of sweet faces, their dress fabrics and hair colors (who wouldn't be smiling with pink or aqua hair?). They can be posed in expressive ways to reflect the mood of their owners and enjoy showing their spunky side. Its almost as if they are about to tell us a story starting with "Just between us girls...".
A big thank you goes to my lovely collectors who encourage me to keep producing new dolls and accessories. Without your enthusiasm, Myrtle's party would have been much smaller. Here's to another year of Garden Party Girls. Cheers!
