Over the weekend the Garden Party Girl dolls went to an art show at the WI center where they admired botanical paintings of roses painted by a war widow. The rose paintings were lovely but they couldn't compete with the excitement of the dolls showing off their new spring hats. At one point everyone traded hats so they could see how each color complimented their hairstyles. While it was understood that everyone would wear their own hat on Easter Sunday, a borrowing schedule was proposed for later in spring.
I think I must have been a milliner in a previous life because I love making doll hats! Part of the fun of making these hats is trying them on all the different doll hair colors. I think its fun to mix them up with complimentary colors one day and contrasting colors another. Most hat colors look charming on any doll but if you need help choosing just ask and I'll be happy to advise. See listing links at the end of this post or use the Etsy shop links in my sidebar.
