Meet my latest handmade dolls: Poppy Davis and Pippa Kendall. Poppy is a pediatric nurse at the local hospital and plays the accordion. Pippa is a Montessori teacher and a fine singer. Poppy and Pippa are friends and musical partners, playing gigs at local pubs and parties. They call themselves the Florabundas, after a favorite multi-flowering rose. With boyfriends who love their music and come to every gig, their future is looking rosy indeed!
Pippa and Poppy are made from cotton and muslin fabrics, with ribbon details, felt coats and hats. They are stuffed with hypoallergenic polyfil.
Pippa's hand-embroidered muslin face features green eyes and a bright pink heart-shaped mouth. Her hair is light coral (peach) vintage yarn. Pippa wears a pink and white dress with floral belt, pink ribbon details. Her stockings are a patterned coral and pink cotton with pale pink sewn on ribbon ties. She wears an azalea pink felt coat and pale pink hat with a floral band and vintage button detail. The hat's button has a sliver glass bead sewn onto it.
Poppy's hand-embroidered muslin face has slate blue eyes and a deep pink heart-shaped mouth. Her hair is made from watermelon (dark coral) colored vintage yarn. Poppy wears a floral dress with a rusty orange plaid belt, coral ribbon and orange tights. Her shoes match her dress and have pale pink laces. She has a salmon pink felt coat and matching hat with pink ribbon detail sewn on it.
Both dolls are fully posable, from demure to spunky.
Pippa is available in my Etsy shop. I'm keeping Poppy in reserve because I need a new doll model for making spring doll clothes and I love her :) Her watermelon yarn hair was a vintage find from Ebay. I love how it looks with different shades of pink fabric and can't wait to try it with other colors.
If you fell in love with Poppy and her floral dress with coral accents, leave a comment here or on my Instagram page and I'll create a similar doll for the shop.
Pippa and Poppy look great in each other's hats and coats. The vintage pink button is a find from my recent visit to the Super Duper Garage Sale. I added a faceted silver glass bead to it for a little sparkle.
Making these warm, pink-toned dolls was the perfect antidote to our chilly winter weather. I hope they warm your heart like they did mine.
Enjoy your weekend!
