Have you been following the Sew Mama Sew softies challenge? I've entered three toys in the contest for a chance to win fabulous prizes, with first prize being a new sewing machine! My toys are shown above - a set of Mama and baby bunnies, a fairy messenger and a kitten in a dress (there are a couple of each to show variations). It would be an honor to win something with my softies!
While I'd love to win any of the prizes, its been fun just making toys for the challenge. I sew everything on my grandmother's 1970's sewing machine, which is a real work horse of a machine. It sews beautifully with just two stitches, straight and zigzag. My grandmother made wonderful clothing for herself and us (and our Barbies) with this machine. The instruction book was lost long ago but I've found that where there's a will there's a way :)
There's still time to enter the contest if you're thinking about it. You have until April 5th to upload your original softie design. If you're not entering the contest, consider donating one of your handmade toys to their charity drive to benefit foster kids. The charity toy drive ends April 30th.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!
